The Challenge
Stephen Davies suffered from low self-esteem prior to joining Workpays. Although keen to progress, he felt that his autism was holding him back, frequently becoming a barrier to learning and employment. He knew he needed to improve his digital skills but was unsure where to start or how he’d cope in a typical learning environment.
The Support
Stephen joined Workpays through our Derby centre and began studying Entry Level 3 Essential Digital Skills, followed by Level 1 Functional Digital Skills. With the support of his tutor, Maia and Engagement Broker, Nicole, Stephen quickly began to feel at ease.
What made the difference was the way learning was delivered, relaxed, encouraging, and built around Stephen’s pace. Maia’s enthusiastic and tailored approach to teaching enabled Stephen to develop confidence in both his digital abilities and himself. He didn’t just gain skills, he gained belief in his own potential.
Alongside digital learning, Stephen also received support with job readiness and general confidence building, helping him feel prepared for life beyond the classroom.
The Impact
Stephen has now secured a job with Autism East Midlands as an Autism Support Worker, a role that’s not only a great fit for his skills but also one where he can make a difference to others. He’s proud of how far he’s come, and so are we.
Stephen’s journey is a reminder of how the right support and a nurturing environment can unlock opportunities and change lives.
“I've really enjoyed learning at Workpays. It's always been fun learning with Maia as she's always so enthusiastic and passionate, always goes the extra mile. Learning is in a relaxed atmosphere where I learn a lot better compared to a stuffy, regimented environment. I've loved learning with Maia; she's an absolute diamond. I've officially now got a job, and I know my parents would be very pleased with me. Lovely environment, it's been very fun, and it's made a big impact on my life. Thank you so much.”

Reading this post about career success reminded me that learning doesn’t stop after graduation, it’s a mindset built over time. When I struggled to balance studies and work, getting help with algebra class from The Online Class Help made a real difference. It wasn’t about shortcuts but learning smarter, breaking problems into patterns and strategies that later helped me approach real-world challenges with the same analytical confidence.
I found the article on career growth and resilience really engaging the way it traces turning obstacles into stepping stones is quite motivating. It reminded me how supportive learning structures matter, and how sometimes you might need to pay someone to complete my online course just to stay on track and focused. The story resonates with anyone trying to build momentum on their own path.
