Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role in catering and develop your career at the helm of a busy care home kitchen. As an Apprentice Head Chef at Restful Homes Group, you will take responsibility for delivering a high-quality, nutritious catering service that directly contributes to the wellbeing and happiness of residents.


You will lead a small kitchen team, manage budgets and stock, and ensure that all food preparation, storage and hygiene standards consistently meet regulatory requirements.

Duties

  • Plan and deliver a varied menu of nutritious, well-balanced and attractive meals that meet the individual dietary needs of residents

  • Ensure adequate kitchen staffing and plan staff schedules to meet operational requirements

  • Supervise the kitchen team in the safe handling and storage of food, correct use of equipment and COSHH-compliant use of cleaning materials

  • Participate in kitchen staff supervisions and support team members to achieve their personal development objectives

  • Assist with the induction and orientation of new kitchen team members

  • Carry out stock takes and order catering consumables from approved suppliers within agreed budgets

  • Ensure all food stocks are rotated correctly and safely

  • Implement and maintain an effective cleaning schedule across the kitchen

  • Ensure temperature testing of foods and storage areas is carried out as required and that records are maintained accurately

  • Supervise and coordinate environmental health inspections

Salary:

National Living Wage, dependent on age
