Overview
This is a great opportunity to develop your culinary skills and begin a rewarding career in catering within a care home setting. As an Apprentice Assistant Chef at Restful Homes Group, you will help to deliver a high-quality, nutritious catering service that makes a real difference to the wellbeing and daily experience of residents.
Working under the direction of the Head Chef, you will be involved in all aspects of kitchen operations, from meal preparation and service to food hygiene and stock management.
Duties
Assist in planning and delivering a varied menu of nutritious, well-balanced and attractive meals that meet residents' individual dietary needs
Support the Head Chef in supervising the handling and storage of food, use of equipment and COSHH-compliant use of cleaning materials
Participate in kitchen staff supervisions and support team members in achieving their personal development objectives
Assist with the induction and orientation of new kitchen team members
Help carry out stock takes and order catering consumables from approved suppliers within agreed budgets
Implement and support an effective cleaning schedule across the kitchen
Assist with temperature testing of foods and storage areas and ensure records are accurately maintained
Ensure adequate kitchen staffing by supporting the Head Chef in coordinating staff schedules
