Working in Partnership With Stepnell: In Their Own Words
Workpays were recommended to Stepnell by Worcestershire LEP, as a like-minded organisation that shared our ambition to wholeheartedly support the provision of local skills and employment. We were not in a position to employ any further apprentices locally on our Worcester-based projects, but wanted to do more to support individuals. Workpays collaborated with us to jointly deliver this ambition.
Knowledge of both the construction industry and the local demographic is fundamental to us. Workpays displayed a detailed understanding and knowledge of both, and adopted a ‘can-do’ attitude to develop a programme that exceeded our expectations.
From the initial meeting to the delivery of a three-week pre-employment programme on our site, Workpays have been excellent in every regard; they kept us fully informed of progress throughout the whole planning and delivery stages of the programme, which culminated in the delivery of a programme for local individuals that we can all be proud of.
In partnership with Workpays, we have been able to support eight long-term unemployed individuals into work, by jointly delivering an innovative site-based pre-employment programme. The programme included practical hands-on work experience, employability skills and development, equipping learners with personal protective equipment, helping them to secure their Level 1 BTEC Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification, and their CSCS Card – ensuring they are ‘work-ready’ for a career in construction.
